Commercial - Club Monaco

The Challenge:
Club Monaco needed the design of their new corporate head offices to be modern, stylish and hip - to reflect the design sensibilities of the company. Even though they were housed in a 95 year old building, the offices had to be functional and a great working environment, complete with all the latest I.T and H.V.A.C technologies.
The building was a "designated" historical site and had a long and complicated history of variances and building department agreements. Municipal approvals, therefore, would not be straightforward.

The Solution:
The new offices embrace modernity with a new polished concrete floor finish, open ceilings with exposed ductwork and services, slim suspended light fixtures, stainless steel, ebony- stained wood, frosted glass, sheer blinds and minimalist custom furnishings. At the same time, they cherish the past with dental moulding, mosaic tile and original light fixtures.
With no access from the street, new stairways and a new building entrance were built and the existing courtyard was transformed from a dark, utilitarian space into a handsome entry sequence leading from Bloor Street. New wood paneling, stainless steel signage, a copper canopy with traditional standing seams, flagstone paving, new lighting and planters were used to contrast sharply with the stark nature of the existing courtyard and to epitomize the company's sleek image.
